What are the precautions to be taken to protect yourself and others from COVID19?

The virus that causes COVID-19 is mainly transmitted through droplets, when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or exhales. This will help you article will help you to know about the “Precautions to be taken to keep yourself and others safe from (coronavirus) COVID19”.
Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment. It can make some people very ill. Mostly older people, and those who have medical conditions like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes appear to be more vulnerable. Not only older people, children who are 0-10 years old are mostly affected to this virus.
How it spreads?

- Currently there is no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
- These droplets are too heavy to hang in the air, and quickly fall on floors or surfaces.
- It stays in air for upto 20 seconds.
- You can be infected by breathing the virus if you are within close proximity of someone who has COVID-19, or by touching a contaminated surface and then your eyes, nose or mouth.
- The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
- Between people who are in close contact with infected or sick person within about 6 feet.
- But some recent studies have found that COVID-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms.
Precautions to be followed:
Washing Hands
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Especially wash your hands after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- Always carry a portable sanitizer.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
- Avoid direct contact with eyes, nose and mouth.

It is very important to wash hands:
- Before preparing or eating food
- While touching your face
- After using the restroom
- After leaving a public place
- After touching animals or pets
- After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
- While handling your mask
- After changing a diaper
- After caring for someone sick
- It is very important to wash your hands before and after doing any kind of work.
Note:
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
Cover your Nose and Mouth with Mask

- Especially cover your mouth and nose with a mask when you were around others.
- Mask is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.
- Try to use N95 mask and surgical mask instead of cloth mask, it lowers the impact of virus.
- Everyone should wear a mask being in public and when around people who don’t live in your household.
- Masks should not be placed on young children under age 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
- Don’t hold the whole mask with hands, take off your mask by holding only the stripes.
Cover your Cough and Sneeze

- Always cover your cough and sneeze with a tissue.
- You can use the inside of your elbow when you cough or sneeze
- Do not spit in public places.
- Throw used tissues in the trash.
- Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds when you cough or sneeze. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Social Distancing

- It is very important to follow social distance when you are around people who don’t live in your household or in public settings.
- Keeping distance from others is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.
- Put 6 feet of distance between yourself and others or people who don’t live in your household (Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arm length) from other people).
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Try to maintain 6 feet distance between the person who is sick and other household members.
Note:
But remember that some people without symptoms may be able to spread virus.
Disinfect and Cleaning

- Always disinfect and clean the places frequently touched daily.
- Include tables, doorknobs, light switches, keys, car, counter tops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks etc.
- If surface is dirty, clean them using detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.
- Keep yourself and your house holding clean and neat.
Check your Daily Health

- Take your temperature if symptoms develop.
- Don’t take your temperature within 30 minutes of exercising or after taking medications that could lower your temperature, like acetaminophen.
- Be alert if you have any symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, or any other symptoms of COVID-19.
- Always eat healthy and and warm foods.
