Does Apple Cause Acidity?
August 4, 2023 | by Yashaswi Pathakamuri | Posted in FAQ's
Apples are generally considered to be a low-acid fruit and are unlikely to cause acidity for most people. In fact, apples are often recommended as a part of an anti-acid reflux diet, as they are considered to be relatively gentle on the digestive system.
However, acidity can vary from person to person, and some individuals with certain sensitivities or medical conditions might find that apples or certain varieties of apples can trigger symptoms of acidity or acid reflux.
If you have acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), you may want to pay attention to your body’s response to apples and other acidic or citrus fruits. While apples are generally well-tolerated by many, acidic fruits can trigger symptoms for some people with acid reflux. In such cases, it may be helpful to eat apples in moderation or choose varieties that are less acidic.
Additionally, the way apples are prepared or consumed can make a difference. Eating raw apples may be tolerated differently from cooked or baked apples, as cooking can break down some of the fibers and make the fruit easier to digest.
If you have concerns about how apples or other foods may be affecting your digestive health, it’s a good idea to discuss your symptoms with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian. They can provide personalized advice and help you find the best dietary choices for your specific needs and condition.
