Rice flakes is the rice which is flattened, light, dry flakes originating from the India. These are also known as flattened rice or atukulu in telugu. Here, in this article we are going to know about benefits and nutritional facts of rice flakes.
Rice is parboiled before flattening so that it can be consumed easily without cooking. These flakes of rice swell when added to hot or cold liquid like water, milk ect.
Then the flake become flattened by absorbing water and become transparent. It is very easy to digest.
Recipe made with rice flakes is known as poha. Poha is very nutritious, used mostly in breakfast. Poha is rich in fibre, so that it promotes a slow and steady release of sugar into the bloodstream. Though it can control blood sugar levels.
As it is made with parboiled rice, drying under sun. Rice flakes also act as probiotic. It produces high energy and easily digestible. So that gastric problems like bloating is not seen.
